Eleaf iStick i40 Mod
The Eleaf iStick i40 Mod is a compact, stylish and versatile vape mod designed for adult vapers who want straightforward controls without sacrificing flexibility. Joining Eleaf’s popular iStick family, the iStick i40 combines a substantial 2600mAh built-in battery, adjustable 1-40W output, Variable Wattage and Variable Voltage modes, USB-C charging and a universal 510 connection inside an impressively portable device.
Standing at approximately 7.8cm tall, the Eleaf iStick i40 is particularly well suited to everyday vaping. Its compact dimensions make it easy to carry in a pocket or bag, while its ergonomic curved body and combination of metallic and leatherette finishes give the device a more premium appearance and comfortable feel in the hand.
With support for MTL, RDTL and lower-powered DTL vaping, the iStick i40 offers plenty of versatility for vapers looking to pair their preferred vape tank with a simple and dependable Eleaf mod.
Compact Design with a Premium Finish
One of the first things you’ll notice about the Eleaf iStick i40 vape mod is its compact design.
Despite housing a 2600mAh internal battery, the device stands just 7.8cm tall. This makes the i40 particularly convenient for vapers who want something substantial enough for regular use without carrying around a large dual-battery box mod.
Eleaf has complemented the compact dimensions with an ergonomic curved shape designed to sit naturally in the hand. A polished metallic frame surrounds a leatherette panel, providing a combination of modern styling and additional grip.
Depending on availability, the iStick i40 can be found in a selection of eye-catching finishes, including Cyan, Neon Orange, Fuchsia Pink, Greenery and Black.
It’s an understated design compared with some larger vape mods, but that is part of the i40’s appeal. Instead of oversized screens and complicated menus, Eleaf has concentrated on portability, usability and everyday performance.
Built-In 2600mAh Battery
Inside the Eleaf iStick i40 is a 2600mAh built-in battery, providing substantial battery capacity considering the mod’s compact dimensions.
Actual vaping time will always vary according to your chosen wattage, coil resistance and frequency of use, but the combination of a 2600mAh battery and maximum 40W output makes the i40 a practical option for regular everyday vaping.
Lower-powered MTL users will generally place less demand on the battery than those vaping towards the top of the device’s output range.
The internal battery design also removes the need to purchase and carry separate removable vape batteries. When the battery needs recharging, simply connect the included USB Type-C charging cable to a suitable power source.
USB-C quick charging means the iStick i40 can be recharged conveniently, with Eleaf designing the device to minimise the amount of time spent connected to a charger.
Adjustable 1-40W Power Output
The Eleaf iStick i40 Mod features a 1-40W adjustable wattage range, giving you considerably more control than a fixed-output vape device.
Rather than automatically deciding how much power is supplied to your coil, Variable Wattage mode allows you to select an appropriate wattage based on your installed tank and coil.
The adjustment buttons make increasing or decreasing the wattage straightforward, while the controls can also be locked to help prevent accidental adjustments while carrying the device.
This broad output range means the iStick i40 can accommodate several different styles of vaping.
At lower wattages, it can be paired with compatible MTL tanks and coils. Moving further through the available power range opens up possibilities for RDTL vaping, while compatible lower-powered sub-ohm coils can provide a DTL experience.
Always check the recommended wattage range printed on your chosen coil and remain within the manufacturer’s specifications.
Variable Wattage and Variable Voltage Modes
Despite its minimalist appearance, the Eleaf iStick i40 isn’t restricted to Variable Wattage alone.
The mod supports both VW (Variable Wattage) and VV (Variable Voltage) operation.
Variable Wattage can be adjusted from 1W to 40W, while Variable Voltage provides an adjustable range of approximately 0.5V to 8V.
These modes give experienced users additional control over how their tank and coil perform while remaining accessible enough for those moving on from a simpler starter device.
The i40’s display provides the important information you need without overwhelming the screen with unnecessary functions. You can quickly view information including your selected power setting, remaining battery level and coil resistance.
Compatible with MTL, RDTL and DTL Vaping
Versatility is one of the strongest features of the Eleaf iStick i40 vape mod.
Its 1-40W power range means the device can accommodate Mouth To Lung (MTL), Restricted Direct To Lung (RDTL) and lower-powered Direct To Lung (DTL) vaping when paired with an appropriate tank and coil.
MTL vaping generally uses lower wattages and produces a tighter inhale. RDTL sits between traditional MTL and DTL vaping, providing a slightly more open draw while still retaining some restriction. DTL vaping typically uses lower-resistance coils and increased airflow to create greater vapour production.
The iStick i40 gives you the flexibility to experiment with compatible tanks and different vaping styles without immediately needing to replace your mod.
Universal 510 Connection
The top of the Eleaf iStick i40 features a standard 510 connection, allowing it to be paired with a wide variety of compatible vape tanks.
Unlike a closed pod system where you’re restricted to a particular manufacturer’s pods or cartridges, the 510 connection gives you significantly greater freedom when selecting a tank.
Provided your chosen tank and coil are suitable for operation within the iStick i40’s 1-40W output range, the mod can be used as the power source for numerous compatible setups.
This also makes the Eleaf iStick i40 an appealing upgrade for vapers who already own a favourite 510 vape tank and simply need a new compact mod.
Simple Controls for Everyday Vaping
Eleaf has kept operation straightforward.
The familiar five-click power control makes switching the device on and off quick and easy, while dedicated adjustment buttons are used to alter your selected power level.
Holding the adjustment buttons together allows the controls to be locked, which is particularly useful when carrying the device in a pocket or bag.
Combined with the clear OLED screen, this straightforward interface makes the i40 suitable for vapers who don’t need an extensive collection of advanced modes and menus.
Instead, you have access to the information and adjustments that matter most for everyday use.

Its compact construction makes it convenient for commuting, travelling and general everyday use, while the internal 2600mAh battery eliminates the need for separate external batteries.
Existing MTL users looking for a more customisable device can take advantage of the lower end of its power range, while RDTL and lower-powered DTL users have up to 40W available.
It could also make a natural next step for someone moving away from a basic starter vape kit or pod system who wants to begin experimenting with 510 vape tanks, adjustable wattage and different vaping styles.
